How to Write a Wedding Speech or Wedding Toast

So you've been asked to give a wedding speech or wedding toast to the new bride and groom. You're nervous, anxious; you've never delivered a speech in front of a crowd, especially a crowd full of family and friends. And it needs to be perfect!

Should it be a funny toast? The newlywed couple's got a great sense of humor, but will it be appropriate for the guests? Appropriate for a wedding?

Well, the best place to start is on the Internet. You can do a Google search for "wedding toasts" or even "wedding toasts or samples" and take it from there.

You really don't have to write your own speech or toast from scratch. You can take a sample and use it as a starting point, a template of sorts, so you get an idea of what's appropriate and what isn't.

Add your own words and play around with it until it feels right. But don't rewrite it until it's not something you really feel. You still want your wedding toast to come from the heart, be sincere, something you yourself would want to say if you could have found the words.
