When you think of wedding flowers...

...you usually you think MONEY. Wedding flowers can get pretty pricey when you consider the cost of the bridal bouquet, the bouquets for all of the attendants, groom's and groomsmen boutonnieres and corsages. That's a lot of flowers, and we haven't even talked centerpieces or decorations yet!

Ever try and price these all separately? It costs a fortune, even in silk!

Fortunately, there are a lot of online stores that do wedding bouquets and arrangements in silk and even have affordable packages that include the main part of the flowers needed.

And since these stores are popping up all over the place, even on eBay, I think silk is the way to go today. When done right, they look just as beautiful and fresh as real flowers.

Some couples are opting for silk also because they can get any type of flower they like and not worry about anyone being allergic.

Imagine getting your all of your wedding flowers done in fresh orchids and someone in your wedding party or any one of your guests ends up being allergic?

So the greatest alternative is to go silk!

table-flowersAnother reason to go with silk is that you can have your arrangements done in virtually any color you want, even if that flower doesn't come in that color naturally.

For example, I don't think I've ever seen real periwinkle color roses or carnations, but they are gorgeous in silk!

Now I won't recommend any one store here because there are just too many. But check eBay to start, then go out on the Net and use search phrases like "wedding flower packages" or simply "wedding flowers."

Shop around and compare prices before you settle on one place. Even compare prices between fresh flower arrangements and silk before you finally decide.

Most of the online stores I've been to advertise that they can build a custom package for you. If you need one less corsage but an extra boutonniere or one less bouquet but one extra corsage, if you drop them an email or call, they'll be more than happy to make a custom package based on your needs.

Negotiate! If the store makes centerpieces and you have a small bridal party, maybe you want to exchange two bouquets for a centerpiece for the bridal table. It never hurts to ask, especially when the store makes everything you need.

This is what I've found is an example of what most of the stores list as their basic 6-piece package:

flower-package
  • 1 Bride's Bouquet
  • 1 Bridesmaid or Maid of Honor Bouquet
  • 2 Mother's Corsages
  • 1 Groom's Boutonniere
  • 1 Other Boutonniere

From this package they start adding the bridesmaids' bouquets, additional boutonnieres and corsages for larger packages at increased prices.

The packages are a bargain when you start pricing each piece individually.

Now if you're really handy and on a smaller budget, you can always make your own custom arrangements, starting with your bridal bouquet. Pick your colors, your flower choice and hit the craft stores.
