Where to Look for Local Wedding BargainsOffline, locally, you can find wedding bargains almost anywhere - if you know where to look. Here are some of my favorite places where I've found great deals over the years.
Yard Sales & Flea Markets Are you having a fall or winter wedding? Start looking for bargains in the spring and summer when everyone's having yard sales and flea markets. You would be surprised at what people will sell, especially in today's economy when money's tight all over. Check out neighborhood garage sales and look for younger couples with a couple of kids. Some of the moms might have their wedding gowns out for sale. Or middle aged couples whose kids have married and their daughters are selling off their wedding things to make some extra cash. Your wedding bargains await! ![]() Here you will find them all... from the smallest to the very largest, indoor and/or outdoor, rural and urban, all organized by state, for your convenience. For example, we found a beautifully decorated basket that was used for a woman's card box at her wedding. We bought it for one dollar! She had her wedding gown hanging up under the carport with a really small price tag on it too. Unfortunately it was the wrong size for my daughter, but luck was with a bride who may have come across it that day - it was a beautiful gown! Estate Sales and Auctions![]() Find Auctions Anywhere! I love auctions too! More wedding bargains! These are year-round events, not just fall and winter, so keep an eye on different estate sales and auctions that are coming around. Estate sales and auctions are often held right at the house of the person whose estate is being liquidated. You can walk through the house to see what's there. Think centerpieces and decorations while touring. Think jewelry while you're strolling through the house. You never know what people have kept stashed away over the years that you can now bid on and get for a really slashed price. My husband and I were at an auction and he bought me a beautiful diamond band to go with my wedding and engagement rings. Auction Houses Enter the auctioneer who owns his own auction house, ready with check, truck and movers. He stores all of the merchandise at his own warehouse then holds weekly auctions to recover the money he paid the distressed family. Yes, he makes a profit, if you're thinking of doing this for a living (hard work!), but you get the bargains! So yard sales, flea markets and outdoor auctions during the good weather-spring and summer; estate sales and auctions all year long! But be careful - it's addictive!
