A Fun Twist on Traditional Save the Date Cards-Save the Date Magnets!

These are cards that are sent out anywhere from five to six months before your wedding date, or two to four months before your invitations. Some brides mail them up to a year in advance!

This is a nice heads-up to the guests on your guest list that you've set the date for your wedding and all plans are in progress. The cards give your guests advance notice to watch their mailbox for your upcoming invitation so they can plan ahead and not miss the event.

Save the Date cards are most appreciated when your wedding falls close to or on a holiday or during times when a lot of families take vacations. Knowing well ahead of time that they are going to be invited to a wedding gives them plenty of time to make other arrangements or reschedule plans so they're sure to attend your wedding.

Why Would I Use Save the Date Magnets?
This idea comes from my sister-in-law, Margie. Save the Date magnets are a new twist to the more traditional and formal announcement card. You can have the magnet announcements made for you in the design of your invitations or if you're making your wedding invitations yourself, you can simply buy extra paper stock to use as Save the Date cards. Then apply magnets to the back.

You can buy business card magnets at just about any office supply store, cut them in half, peel off the protective paper and stick it to the back of the card.

Most people, when they receive an important magnet in the mail, will immediately put it on their refrigerator so it doesn't get lost in the rest of the mail. Now they'll see it every day so they'll have a daily reminder that your wedding invitation should be arriving in the near future.
