Planning a Vow Renewal Ceremony On a Lake

I need some ideas. My husband and I celebrated a milestone anniversary this year...our 10th.
We are wanting to do something kind of small and personal(we have an annual summer party) and want to coincide it with the party.

My mother in law lives on a lake, so we are thinking about a beach wedding. Casual dress, low budget.

Any ideas on decorating? Is it okay to have someone stand up with us kind of like a best man or maid of honor?

What kind of flowers do you like?
by: Nisha- Editor

Are there any flowers that hold special meaning to you? I am a sentimental gal and feel that the best flowers to use are the ones that hold some kind of meaning. Flowers can be found in almost any style and color, so meaning comes first in my book. If you are keeping everything casual, a handheld bouquet is better than a fancy cascading bouquet. I would keep it simple and fresh. Something like gerber daisies, calla lilies or sunflowers come to mind. They all are great flowers for simple hand bouquets.

This wedding flower site has lots and lots of bouquet photos that you can look at to decide the kind of flowers you like. They even have instructions on creating the bouquet yourself. ;)

Best of luck.

Flowers?

My dress is a summer dress, orange in color. Looking for flower bouquet ideas. We are not doing a lot of decorating.

Congratulations

Congratulations on your 10 year mark! A casual, family reunion style vow renewal sounds like the perfect way to celebrate!

A beachfront ceremony on a lake can be a perfectly dreamy way to renew your vows. You are certainly welcome to have your best man or maid of honor stand up with you. It is a great way to honor them in the part they played in your union from the beginning.

With the atmosphere being casual and low key, I just have some light decorating ideas that might help with the ambiance. Flowers and lighting. I am not sure of what the landscape looks like at the lake you are using, but use as much of nature as possible.

Flowers: I love the look of mason jars with flowers in them. You can have them on tables, hanging from chairs with ribbon (really pretty as an isle liner), and hanging from any trees if you have them close to the location. Use local wildflowers for an inexpensive and fun touch. You can also use different jars and containers for the flowers.

Lighting:
Hang christmas lights around the area you will be using. It will add a nice soft glow as it gets darker. Other ideas you can use could be candles, tiki torches, or any other kind of lightening that can be hung or displayed to add to the ambience. You can place sand and candles in mason jars and line tables or your walkway with them.

Here is a tutorial to make the hanging chandeliers out of the jars..

Best of luck with your bow renewal. I would love to hear details on how it turns out. :)
