7 Simple Low-Budget Tips for Your Wedding

Save Money on your wedding with these seven quick low-budget tips:

If you buy wedding accessories at specialty shoppes and boutiques or even at department stores in their Wedding Department, you will pay more because it's marked Wedding.

Shop at prom season for gowns and dresses for the bride and bridal party, even for the mothers of the bride and groom. (My niece's gorgeous white strapless prom gown was more stunning than some of the wedding gowns I've seen. And you pay less because it's Prom not Wedding, but who would know the difference?)

Watch for annual sales and liquidations for super deals on gowns. Recently a resale shop in Chicago helped local bridal boutiques liquidate their overstock - they held a special sale and sold designer gowns for $50.00

Save on food by having a mid-afternoon ceremony and reception and serve appetizers instead of a full luncheon or dinner.

Use sheets instead of linen table cloths and save a fortune, and you'll probably have better luck getting them in your wedding colors too.

Have cupcakes instead of a full tiered cake.

Check Freecycle.org regularly for your local area to see if anyone's giving away gowns, veils, shoes, decorations or accessories. It's amazing what people will give away and ask no money for just because they have no need for the things and really can't see throwing it away.
