Casual Beach Wedding Dresses

Nothing more says casual yet romantic than holding the hand of your beloved and walking barefoot on wet slipping sand on a perfect sunset, or strolling through warm sand on a mid-afternoon.

And so a beach wedding can be more informal and brides can opt for more casual wedding dresses and other arrangements, complimentary to this kind of destination wedding.

As the occasion becomes lighter and less formal, full length gowns and long head dresses aren’t really necessary. You might want to choose an informal short wedding dress that won’t kick up the sand as a more traditional, longer gown may do.

Any dress style, whether slender, straight cut, A-line or knee-length or tea-length with a flowing pattern is perfect for the seaside.


One advantage of casual wedding dresses is you can experiment with different style of necklines, like a halter, off-shoulder or having a nice netted lace shrug to cover the arms if you are not open to too much exposure. Small prints or flowery patterns and textures are also used by new brides today. And the materials mostly used are satin, georgette, chiffon, crepe, organza and even cotton.

If you choose to wear a veil, you’ll want to make sure it’s secure so oceanside breezes don’t blow it away. As an alternative, you can opt for a shorter veil or simply have wear ponytail, or semi-tied pattern with a stone studded comb, or tiara or hair bands with fresh flowers or rhinestones matching your outfit.

Since the sun, sand, and humidity could easily play havoc with your hair and headpiece, if you have long hair, it may be best to have it tied up. If you are thinking on wearing a hat, make sure it’s nicely pinned to hair.

While some high-heeled shoes may not go well with casual beach wedding dresses, if you’re not planning on being a barefoot bride, strappy sandals are ideal, even those with higher heels if you’re comfortable walking in them in the sand.

A lot of brides opt for going barefoot with beautiful anklets on or toe jewellery to complement the dress.

Flowers like lilies, tulips, white roses, daisies and gladiolus are wonderful additions for casual beach wedding dresses to accent all or part of the dress. It completes the whole romantic feel of the seaside wedding.

And on the economical side brides who choose casual beach wedding dresses will get more use from their wedding dresses later as they’re able to be accented with different jewellery later on and worn again to other events instead of hanging in a closet or sitting in a preservation box.
