Bridal Veils that Coordinate with
Your Gown and Ensemble

Bridal veils are one of the key pieces of your wedding dress accessories and there are several styles and lengths to choose from. If you are wearing a veil, there are many selections of cheap bridal headpieces or wedding hair combs that you can attach your veil to and choosing the right one is vital because you want to make sure the veil and headpiece coordinate with your dress.

If you're wearing a headpiece, the type of headpiece you choose will determine the length of the veil. Most veils come attached to plain clear wedding hair combs that can either be attached to the headpieces or hidden under the headpiece and removed after the ceremony.

Some brides choose to wear only a veil without a headpiece and tuck the veil comb up under an elegant hairstyle. Veils could also be attached to decorative wedding hair combs and used in place of headpieces.

From the shortest to the longest, these are main styles of bridal veils:

There are not only different lengths of bridal veils, there are also single and multiple tiered veils. You can buy bridal veils that are already made to wear or ready to be attached to your headpiece, you can have a custom made veil or you can even make your own veil.

No matter which way you decide to go and which is most cost effective for your budget, you should determine how long you want your veil and whether or not you'll be wearing a blusher, then measure for your tiers using these steps:

  1. Get your mom or your sister or the maid of honor and a cloth tape measure.
  2. Put your headpiece on exactly where you'll be wearing it on your wedding day.

Tip: You may actually get a better idea of the length of your veil if you're also wearing your hair the same as you will be on the day of your wedding.

  3. Place the tape measure at the point of the headpiece where the veil will be attached, or if you're not wearing a headpiece, at the the point on your head where you will be putting the headpiece comb.

  4. Measure where you would like the first tier to fall to. That is the length of the veil.
If you're having multiple tiers, just repeat the process for the other tiers.

If you're wearing a blusher, which is the shortest layer of the veil and is worn over the face, start measuring from the point where the blusher will either attach to your headpiece or attach to the veil comb down to where you want the blusher to end.

"Vintage birdcage veils are also commonly known as a bird cage veil, cage veil, cage blusher, or pouf veil. And, they're making quite a comeback--as any woman with a fashion-forward sense of style already knows." ~The Vintage Birdcage Veils website
